Trump Administration One Year In – Part 1

What a difference a year makes. For those of you Never-Trumpers, one year down. For Trump supporters, its one year in. It has been a crazy year! It has been full of successes and failures as with any presidency. This is the first of two posts focusing on the successes and failures (okay mostly successes) of the Trump Presidency. Part 2 will be published on the one-year anniversary of the Trump Presidency, January 20th. No matter what side of the political fence you reside, I think there are some positives and negatives we can agree on in the list below.

~~~~~~~~~~MOVING THE US EMBASSY TO JERUSALEM~~~~~~~~~~
Last month, President announced the moving of the US Embassy to Jerusalem and declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. In my opinion, this is one of President Trump’s greatest accomplishments of his young presidency. As President Trump stated “Israel is a sovereign nation with the right, like every other sovereign nation, to declare its own capital. This decision proved to the world that the United States stands firmly with the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
~~~~~~~~DOW JONES HITS 25K~~~~~~~~

On January 4th, 2018, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit 25,000 for the first time in history. It jumped 1000 points in 5 weeks (24 trading days). This was the fastest 1000-point jump in the history of the Dow Jones by one day.

~~~~~TRUMP APPOINTS GORSUCH TO SUPREME COURT~~~~~
In April 2017, President Trump appointed Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court filling the vacancy left by the late Antonin Scalia. Trump promised to appoint a conservative and constitutionalist justice to replace the late Justice Scalia, who was known for his conservative votes. Trump did just that by appointing Gorsuch. Gorsuch has already proven to be a conservative choice and has delivered crucial votes, such as when he supported the President’s travel ban.
~~~~~~~~~KEYSTONE PIPELINE~~~~~~~~~

In March 2017, coming through on yet another campaign promise President Trump approved the Keystone Pipeline. The Obama Administration had previously blocked the Keystone Pipeline. It was estimated that the pipeline would create upwards of 40,000 jobs.

~~~~~TRUMP’S INFAMOUS THIRD-WORLD COUNTRY REMARKS~~~~~
Last Thursday President Trump allegedly made a comment that almost all of us have heard by now. He allegedly called many impoverished countries a vulgar term in a meeting with several political leaders on immigration. He referred to them as Sh**holes. While I, like many others agree that several countries around the world are in poor condition, I believe the use of the language allegedly used was harsh and uncalled for. President Trump is hardly the first President or human to use such language, so the way the mainstream media has blown this out of proportion is highly uncalled for. President Trump denied making any such remark by saying, “The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used.” Whether President Trump made this comment or not I do believe he needs to be mindful of the language he uses. Every time something like this occurs, we get further from what we are trying to accomplish.
